metaWHAT?

"Why are we here?  Huh?  Huh?  Huh?
Please tell me: What are we here for?"
-Outkast's, more specifically Big Boi's, "Church"

These questions deal with metaphysics, the branch of philosophy that centers around what the nature of reality is and what it means to even exist.  Metaphysics means "after the physics," which is to say: What is there beyond the sciences?  Therefore, this is NOT a scientific discipline --- there are not any empirical tests that can be administered.

Because the theories revolving around our existence cannot actually be tested, there really are no universally accepted answers to these questions.  Everything is subjective and open to interpretation.  The point of this post is to share with you how I would answer these questions.

We exist because some sort of higher being(s), whether it be Mother Nature or any god(s) you believe in, has/have led us here.  I am going to continue this section referring to the higher being as being a single, feminine entity.  The reason behind Her choice is something I have yet to find myself.  Maybe She wanted some action, comedy, drama, and romance in Her life; thus, conjuring up this idea of human beings, because the plants and animals were not cutting it anymore.  Yes, I am saying that there were plants and other animals before human beings --- the monotheistic religions (I do not know enough about other religions to comment on their beliefs) and even evolution state that they were brought about in this order.  Who can argue with this single belief that both science and religion have in common?!

As to WHAT we are here for, I actually have a serious answer.  Unlike my answer to the WHY, I am going to state my views on the WHAT simply.  I believe we are here to serve one another, and by one another I mean ALL beings (except bugs and the like, because they are gross)!  The purpose of life being to better each other.  Life is all about progression and furthering not only oneself, but others as well.

That is all for now!
